What is Sea Glass ?

Authentic Sea Glass nuggets are smooth frosted pieces of glass found on many beaches around the world..also
known as Beach Glass, Mermaids’ Tears, Sea Sapphires, Ocean Gems, & Atlantic Amber.

Most sea glass originated as old bottles & jars once discarded at sea or as a result of shipwrecks. There are many colours in sea glass, some very rare such as grey, purple and red glass.... which was probably from a port side lamp; whilst a piece of cobalt blue might have been an old apothecary bottle.....

Sea glass is naturally tumbled smooth by the sea over many decades, and is eventually coaxed back to the shore by the tides, - surely re-cycling at its best ? You can tell authentic sea glass from the fake sea glass on the market by the frosted appearance and tiny 'c' marks made by the salt water, sand, rocks & pebbles.

All our sea glass was found by us over many years & hours of beachcombing, in Spain, Cayman Islands, Italy, Egypt, Portugal, Spain, France, Algiers, Ireland & UK.

  ...shown here in Cuba....

  .....and not so glamourous
  in Cumbria!

We remove excess salt with soap but the amazing shapes and colours are unaltered, & we drill minute holes when necesary with a dentist's drill! Sea Glass is now a limited resource & getting much harder to find.
